Our Innovations

Our boats are especially designed to adjust to any equipment configuration as well as to protect the electronic equipment from inclement weather, even during the height of the monsoon. We have built boats using local knowledge, labor and materials. Boats incorporate metal beams to allow for column-free open spaces, flexible wooden floors, higher ceilings, and waterproof roofs outfitted with solar panels. These multilayered roofs can withstand heavy monsoon rains. ​

It is an innovative low-cost solar lantern made from recycled parts of the conventional and much used kerosene hurricane (lantern). Women bring used kerosene hurricane to us where a 5 Watt CFL/LED is placed inside the glass globe, which replaces the wick and burner. Next, 12V 7.5 Amp sealed lead battery is placed inside the oil-reservoir. The opening of the reservoir is used as re-charging socket with a switch underneath it. Finally, the kerosene hurricane becomes a 'Surya-Hurricane solar lantern'.

The farmer’s floating farming (FFF) combines vegetable garden along with duck and fish raising on water. It does not need any land that benefits the landless farmer. It is moored by rope to the bank of a river. The coop houses 100 ducks and is equipped with solar panels to power lights. It floats on empty cylindrical drums. The coop is attached to bamboo that makes up fish enclosures . Also it holds wooden frames where farmers grow eggplants, spinach, cucumbers, beans and gourds in natural fertilizer.
